MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The two major nominating conventions are upon us and a whirlwind of political factors are at play. What, if any, of those forces are likely to sway voters in one direction or the other?

In this installment of Professor Pundits, Matt Dickinson and Bert Johnson discuss – and disagree on – the fallout from the FBI’s scathing, yet legally exonerating, report on Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while Secretary of State. They also look at Bernie Sanders’s continuing influence on the campaign, and how numerous recent episodes of gun violence may be fueling support for Donald Trump.

Dickinson writes the blog Presidential Power and is frequently quoted in the national news media. He often live tweets political events at @MattDickinson44. Johnson, also a regular in the national media, tweets at @bnjohns.
