Dining Procedures for Spring Arrival
| by Dan Detora
Hello Students,
I hope you enjoyed the winter break and are looking forward to coming to campus. I am writing with some updates from Dining Services for the spring semester.
Dining Assignments
Similar to the fall, dining halls and meal times will be assigned at the start of the semester. Please see the table below for information about your assigned dining hall (based on your residence) and your time of service (based on the first letter of your last name). Honoring this system will help with our efforts to minimize wait times and reduce potential transmission of COVID-19 exposures.
Arrival Day and Room Quarantine Meals and Delivery
We have made a few changes to meal service for arrival day and room quarantine to streamline services and for your convenience. Here are the new procedures:
- On your arrival day, you will receive one meal as you depart from Virtue Field House after your Day 0 test.
- We have stocked each of your rooms with a reusable bag filled with snacks, beverages, condiments, dressings, utensils, and other items. Please plan to use these supplies throughout your room quarantine.
- We will deliver all other meals to your door during room quarantine, until we open the dining halls at lunchtime on Thursday, February 25.
- If you receive a negative test result, prior to the opening of the dining halls, you may leave your room quarantine. Keep in mind, however, that your meals will be delivered to your door until the dining halls open for lunch on Thursday, February 25th.
- The last meal delivery will be for dinner on Wednesday, February 24th.
- All dinner deliveries will include breakfast items for the next day.
- If your results are delayed or if a retest is required, we will continue to deliver your meals beyond February 25th until you are cleared to end room quarantine.
Dining Hall Protocols
The dining halls once again will have strict protocols in place in the spring as we continue to take extra precautions due to the pandemic. Following are some changes that will go into effect after room quarantine:
- Those entering Proctor dining hall must use the entrance at the front of the building off the terrace.
- We have converted the bookstore into additional student space for indoor dining, although we will not offer indoor seated dining until we have approval to do so from our health professionals and the State of Vermont.
- While using any shared spaces, please respect and follow the instructions of all signs and keep six feet apart from others.
- Physical distance is required at all times in public spaces even between close contacts.
The Grille
We once again plan to offer a quick meal pick up option at the Grille in McCullough for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Grille menu will be limited, but you will be able to use a meal swipe with your ID card as part of your full meal plan. As with the other dining halls, all Grille meals will be to-go until we are cleared to offer indoor seated dining.
Reusable Bags
We hope you will use the reusable bags we provided when you arrived to help you carry your meals back and forth to your residences. Please remember to bring your reusable containers back to the dining halls to be cleaned and sanitized.
Please check our dining services web page for updated hours of operations and a link to our menus.
If you have further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
We look forward to serving you!
