The SSRM modules are being developed by a large team of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and administrators from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and Middlebury College.

The SSRM project had its beginnings in June 2020 with aims to develop an online resource that fills a gap in traditional research methods preparation for students and faculty, available to Middlebury students and staff as well as the public.

Since 2020, the project has continued to develop its training modules in social science research, data collection, and data analysis. It is currently ongoing, with some modules still under development.
