Presentation Title: Methane as a Vehicle Fuel
Section: Methane as a Vehicle Fuel II
Location: McCardell Bicentennial Hall, 403
Date & Time: Friday, April 19, 2013 - 11:15am - 12:30pm
Abstract:
As fuel prices grow and environmental concerns become a larger priority, farms must start investigating renewablefuel sources. We investigate the use of methane as a tractor fuel for dairy farms with the specific focus of those in Addison County Vermont. We find many farms are already using digesters to convert manure into methane. These farms currently use that methane to generate electricity on the farm. But with an increase in natural gas infrastructure and foresight from equipment manufactures we believe that these farmers could use that methane as a tractor or other vehicle fuel.
