Two fundraising challenges for Middlebury alumni and parents ended recently with results far exceeding the original goals. Alumni made 3,442 gifts to the March Challenge amounting to $1,057,738, while parents made 736 gifts to the Midd Parent Challenge, totaling $576,263. Both challenges were intended to boost funds for financial aid and the College’s Annual and Parents' Funds, which have an immediate impact on the educational experience of all students.
Your gift to Middlebury helps teach exceptional young people how to understand the world and contribute to it. With its focus on the environment and international education, the College prepares its students to tackle the world's most pressing challenges and to recognize and develop new opportunities.
Your Middlebury education was made possible because generations of alumni and friends shared with us through the Annual Fund. Your gifts help students aspire to make the world a better place, knowing that those who came before them are behind them all the way.
President Ron Liebowitz will step down at the end of this academic year, on June 30, 2015, after more than a decade of exceptional leadership. Liebowitz, Middlebury’s 16th president since the founding of the College in 1800, has served in the office since 2004. He has also inspired generations of students as a faculty member in the Department of Geography and has held other senior positions in the institution's administration over the past 30 years.
Alumni, parents, and friends have asked how they can honor the president and his wife Jessica for their accomplishments and service to Middlebury. Three funds have been established to honor the Liebowitzes: the Ron and Jessica Liebowitz Scholarship Fund, the Ron and Jessica Liebowitz Centennial Fellowships Fund, and the Ron and Jessica Liebowitz Fund for Innovation. Donors may contribute to any of these funds or make a gift for any other purpose in honor of the Liebowitzes.
