Study Abroad 101 Video

In this 12-minute video you will learn about study abroad program options, applications, requirements, and processes. Middlebury students who are interested in studying abroad can choose from the Middlebury CV Starr Schools Abroad, studying away at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and also from many externally sponsored programs and locations.

We recommend that you watch the Study Abroad 101 video here, watch the program-specific information session (where available) and then schedule an appointment with the appropriate advisor (see below) before you complete an application for any program.

Each year more than half of the junior class at Middlebury College studies abroad in more than 40 countries at more than 90 different programs and universities.

Middlebury Schools Abroad

Middlebury has Schools Abroad at more than 40 universities in Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, Uruguay, and the United Kingdom. All college undergraduates are eligible to apply.

Externally Sponsored Programs

Each year a significant number of Middlebury College students study abroad on externally sponsored programs in countries such as Australia, Botswana, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Ghana, Greece, Ireland, Kenya, Madagascar, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, among others. Study Away at Monterey

Middlebury’s Study Away at Monterey program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to spend a semester or a year at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS), a graduate school of Middlebury College. Students can access the extraordinary resources at MIIS, learning from experts in international policy (environmental, trade, development, and nonproliferation), education, and linguistics. These programs educate students to advance understanding, promote peace, and drive change in pursuit of a more just world.
