Google Docs

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tool that is available to from Google. It performs somewhat like Microsoft Office or Apple's iWork, except with less formatting options than those software packages.

There are a few advantages of Google Docs that might outweigh its lack of functionality. First of all, you don't have to purchase or install software, and the documents are not stored on one computer - they live in the Cloud.  Finally, the documents can be shared with others, who can edit or comment on them. A whole new world of collaboration is available through Google Docs.

If you would like to request a Middlebury Google account, write to gadmin@middlebury.edu.  When you do, you'll receive a welcome email with a temporary password and instructions for getting started.
