Middlebury College is a residential college with a comprehensive tuition fee that provides students with breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. For our diners' convenience, meals are available continuously from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Students may choose to eat in the dining room of their choice and enjoy unlimited seconds at all meals. There is no restriction on the number of times a student may enter a dining room during a meal period. Diners can drop by for a snack at 4pm and re-enter for ice cream half an hour later, or can eat a meal in one location and have coffee and dessert with friends in another.
In order to take advantage of Middlebury's beautiful rural setting, students are allowed to eat on the terraces, lawns and picnic tables outside the dining halls at any meal. They are also encouraged to bring a professor, staff or faculty member to any meal! Middlebury believes strongly that this open-access policy fosters community on campus. Our students are free to have 2-hour group study sessions over breakfast, discuss a paper with a professor over tea, and enjoy the flexibility afforded by many options and few limitations so that they can focus on the daily duties of being a student.
