The Student Government Association sponsors subsidized bus transportation, open to all students, for most campus breaks.

Buses run between Middlebury College and the following locations:

  • Burlington Airport (BTV)
  • NY White Plains/Penn Station/Ridgewood, NJ
  • Logan Airport, South Station, Boston, MA and Hooksett, NH

Note: Buses are also offered from the Middlebury Train Station back to campus at the end of mid-year breaks

General Ticketing

  • Tickets my be purchased through the online Box Office or by calling 802-443-6433.
  • All reservations are sold for a specific bus. 
  • No refunds will be given, but tickets may be changed to a different departure time (see information and limitations the FAQ’s below.)  

Tickets sales remain open until the time of departure OR when the bus sells out. Please purchase your tickets early as buses sometimes sell out. Purchasing tickets early also makes it easier to track high need buses and add a bus when needed.

  • All tickets are delivered electronically via an Order Confirmation emailed from Middlebury College Box Office immediately following purchase.
  • The QR code on your ticket will be scanned by the bus driver during the boarding process.
  • If you are purchasing on behalf of someone else, you can select “Send To a Friend” in your Order Confirmation.  Once the recipient claims the ticket, it will update to the rider’s name.

Traveler Information

  • Ticket sales are for Middlebury Students only. Guests are not permitted.
  • All break buses departing from Middlebury College will leave from Adirondack Circle unless otherwise noted.
  • For all buses, please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. If boarding at BTV or Logan, please allow time for baggage claim.
  • All personal belongings brought either on the bus, or stored below the bus, remain the responsibility of the rider. Luggage is stored at the rider’s risk. Middlebury College, SGA, and/or Premier Coach are not responsible for any lost or stolen luggage or belongings.

SGA provides these subsidized transportation options for all Middlebury College students. We are not able to facilitate any individual changes to the scheduled travel plans to and from the College.

Bus Routes

  • The bus runs directly between Burlington Airport (BTV) and Middlebury College without any additional stops.
  • Approximate Travel Time: 1 hour between BTV and Middlebury College.
  • White Plains Metro North Station: Ferris Avenue southbound between Water and New St.
    • Approximate Travel Time: 45 minutes between White Plains and Penn Station. 
  • Penn Station: 8th Ave at the corner of 31st Street and 8th Avenue.
    • Approximate Travel Time: 45 minutes between Penn Station and Ridgewood.
  • Ridgewood Park & Ride: The stop is on the northbound side of Route 17 and there is a foot bridge over Route 17 to access it from the parking lot. You should be dropped off in the parking lot and go across the bridge to the northbound side.
    • Approximate Travel Time: 4 hours and 15 minutes between Ridgewood NJ and Middlebury, VT.
  • Logan International Airport: Terminal B lower level at American Airlines between doors B101 and B102.
    • Approximate Travel Time: 15 minutes between Logan and South Station.
  • South Station: Atlantic Avenue side, near East Street cross street.
    • Approximate Travel Time: 1 hour between South Station and Hooksett.
  • Hooksett, NH: Target store parking lot off Route 93 at exit 10.
    • 2.5 hours Approximate Travel Time between Hooksett and Middlebury.
  • The bus runs directly from the Middlebury Train Station to Middlebury College without any additional stops (buses are offered one way only, from the train station returning to campus)
  • Approximate Travel Time: 5 minutes between Middlebury Train Station and Middlebury College.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can exchange your ticket to another departure time using the process below:

  • Under the same account as your original purchase, go ahead with a new purchase for the bus departure time that works with your travel plans. It must be for the same route and the equivalent cost of the original purchase.
  • Once you have purchased the new ticket, email boxoffice@middlebury.edu immediately to let us know, and make sure to include your new order number in the email.
  • The Box Office will verify the new ticket purchase and then refund your original ticket.
  • Please note, for a refund of your original order to be possible:
    • You must purchase the new ticket under the same account as the original.
    • It must be for the same route and equivalent cost. 
    • You must inform the Box Office of the new ticket purchase immediately and prior to the departure of your original ticketed bus.
  • Tickets purchased outside of the parameters listed above will not qualify for a refund of the original ticket.

Yes, tickets can be transferred to another rider if needed.  These transfers should be done by the original purchaser and do not need to go through the box office.  Please use the process below:

  • The original purchaser should log into their Box Office account
  • Click on the “Send To a Friend” option in your Order Confirmation
  • The new rider will receive a notification
  • Once the recipient claims the ticket, it will update to the rider’s name
  • The new rider must claim the ticket prior to boarding the bus
