    Border South/Frontera Sur is a film about the humanitarian crisis on the U.S./Mexico border in the Sonoran Desert. It was created to accompany the completion of Hostile Terrain 94, a global pop up installation in the Center Gallery that commemorates migrant death.

    World Wide Teach-In on Climate and Justice

    Participate with Midd in the World Wide Teach-In on Climate and Justice! Middlebury will be joining more than 350 educational institutions around the world (in more than 50 countries and most US states) in the teach-in. On or around Wednesday, March 30, 2022, faculty will devote at least five minutes of classroom time to a conversation about climate solutions and justice. Continue the conversation from this fall’s Clifford Symposium – Radical Implications: Facing a Planetary Emergency – and engage our students, who are coming of age in an age of planetary crisis and transformation.

  • Carol Rifelj Faculty Lecture Series: "Buddhist Responses to Confucian Criticism: Li Chunfu's Defense of the Dharma"

    Elizabeth Morrison, Religion Department

    The Chinese official Li Chunfu (1177–1223) was a devoted follower of the Buddhist tradition. His impatience with the criticism of Buddhism common among Neo-Confucians prompted him to compose an extended response. Professor Morrison will draw from this work, which she is currently translating, to characterize the ways he counters their attacks. She will also place him within the centuries-long tradition of Chinese Buddhist apologetic literature.
