    Middlebury Afropop Band Concert

    This concert opens with the Middlebury African Music and Dance Ensemble performing repertoire that showcases the stylistic and instrumental diversity of traditional East African musical cultures. In the second half of the concert, the Middlebury Afropop Band performs original compositions and arrangements of classic and contemporary popular songs from all over Africa. The band uses pop and rock instrumentation as well as styles that blend traditional African with Western and/or Afro-diasporic musical idioms.

  • Queer Art Night

    Queer Art Night is like book club, but more fun! It is an opportunity to engage with feminist and reproductive justice literature in a new way. During this event, participants will engage with a chapter from an upcoming book about reproductive justice, then create art to reflect their impressions.   • Raisins Weekly Meeting

    RAISINS (Radical Asians) is an organization at Middlebury College dedicated to Asian/Asian American educating and organizing for human dignity and well-being. We seek to raise our socio-political consciousness in order to understand how we got where we are today, confront ideological and material manifestations of oppression, and foster solidarity amongst the Asian/Asian American student body.

    Join Spiritual and Religious Life Dean Mark R. Orten for 20 minutes of quiet contemplation with reading and music for our times. Intentional silence and guided meditation will be interspersed with music and readings from secular worldviews and sacred traditions to open our awareness and to find strength and perspective for living during personal, political, racial, ecological and other upheavals.

    Managing Stress (with Stella the dog)

    This group is to help students process stress and stress management. The group is a 50 minute open format occurring once per week, and a space for students to engage in conversation with each other around topics of stress. Stella, the therapy dog will present for students who would like to engage with her. Sarah Lawrence, associate director of counselor training will be running the group with Sam Rothberg, counseling intern.

  • The Axinn Center for the Humanities Faculty Research Seminar Presents: ‘What is Human?’

    Participants in the Axinn Center for the Humanities-sponsored Faculty Research Seminar from 2021-22, titled “What is Human?,” will discuss the theme of their seminar and present on the scholarly projects they pursued and completed. Seminar participants will include James Berg (ENGL), Carrie Anderson (HARC), Kristin Bright (ANTH), Justin Doran (RELI), Irina Feldman (SPAN), and Linsey Sainte-Claire (FREN).

    Appetizers and refreshments will be served.
