Dry Land
Dry Land is a visceral portrait of two competitive high school swimmers, Amy and Esther, who are stuck in suburban Florida. Amy is pregnant, and she needs Esther’s help. A story of female beauty and cruelty, Speigel shows us the gritty depths of what young women resort to when they feel they don’t have any other choices.
Content Warning: Dry Land discusses miscarriage and unwanted preganancy, and contains a graphic scene depicting an induced abortion. It also includes physical violence, reference to self harm and emotional and physical abuse, and homophobic and ableist slurs.Hepburn Zoo

Company
Stephen Sondheim’s ground-breaking “concept” musical debuted in 1970. The famous score is by turns hilarious and heart-breaking, and after half a century what it says about modern relationships still rings true. The annual co-production of Town Hall Theater and the Middlebury College Dept. of Music is always a much-anticipated event. This year, with the recent death of the man who changed the art form forever, the show takes on a new poignancy. Directed by Douglas Anderson, with musical direction by Carol Christensen.Town Hall Theater

Zoë Keating, Cello
Extraordinary Vermont-based cellist and composer Zoë Keating continues our cello celebration with a contemporary lens. A one-woman orchestra, she uses a cello and a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer of cello, creating intricate, haunting, and compelling music. Keating has a devoted global audience and her self-released albums have reached #1 several times on the iTunes classical chart. She has composed music for ballet, theater, film, and radio and lends her music regularly to film, tv, dance productions, and commercials.
