What's Next For the Trump Tax Cuts?

Marc Goldwein, senior VP and Policy Director of the Committee for a Responsible Budget will provide an in-depth analysis of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (i.e. the Trump tax cuts). With many provisions of the TCJA set to expire, the discussion will explore potential scenarios for negotiations around tax policy under the second Trump administration and the implications for businesses, individuals, and the country as a whole.

Korean Drumming

Learn to play the traditional Korean percussion genre samulnori. Samulnori blends traditional Korean rhythms into dynamic pieces using four Korean percussion instruments: janggu (hourglass drum), buk (barrel drum), jing (large gong), and ggwaenggwari (small gong). Participants will start by learning technique and basic rhythms and progress to more complex rhythms and sequences. No experience needed!

Emily Welty and Matthew Breay Bolton are members of a Nobel Prize-winner campaign to abolish nuclear weapons and 2024 Middlebury honorary degree recipients. At the beginning of their week-long residency, join a talk and discussion to learn about their work in Peace and Conflict Studies, disarmament, playwrighting, and activism.

Workshop on Nonviolent Direct Action

Join us for an interactive workshop sponsored by Conflict Transformation and the Climate Action Program on Nonviolent Direct Action with Dr Emily Welty and Dr Matthew Bolton on April 8th from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. The workshop will include specific case studies and explore how to name a strategic demand, how to identify the opponent/decision maker and their needs, how to think carefully about tactics and what the ethical challenges are in building grassroots campaigns.
