  • Everyday Peace Around the World

    Peter Dixon ’02 is lead research scientist for Everyday Peace Indicators and researcher at Brandeis’ Program in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence. In this talk, he will explain how studying the everyday experiences of people affected by violence inform transformative solutions toward peace and justice. Dixon has worked for the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and has a PhD in Sociology from UC Berkeley.

  • J Club Weekly Meeting

    J Club highlights aspects of traditional, pop, artistic, linguistic, and literary Japanese culture and brings them to campus. We host food events, screenings, celebrations like Harumatsuri (the Spring Festival), workshops on topics like taiko and tea ceremonies. We also sometimes attend events in the surrounding area.     In our final event in the Teaching and Learning for Liberation Series, students from the Middlebury Education Studies Society (MESS) and faculty from the Education Studies Program as we examine culturally relevant pedagogy, antiracism, and inclusion as it relates to student learning. We will again ask how we can use our various talents to address the barriers faced when enacting equity-centered, justice-driven education. Students, staff, and faculty welcome.

  • Reflection and Discussion Dinner with Peter Dixon

    Following Peter Dixon’s presentation on “Everyday Peace Around the World”, join us for an opportunity to discuss and reflect on the contents of his talk with Dixon over dinner. Guests will have the ability to ask questions and exchange conversation about conflict transformation, peace, and justice.
