    Miri Yu, noted Korean-Japanese writer, will meet with students, staff, and faculty colleagues for an informal discussion of her career and her new novel, The End of August. She is the guest of the Japanese Studies Department and the Language Schools.

    Ballet returns to the Dance Department this fall. Classical Ballet technique in traditional ballet class structure.
    No pointe shoes, please.
    Each session is open to a maximum of 20 participants.
    PE credit is available for attendance at 8 classes. Previous dance experience in any form is recommended.

    Crossfit Middlebury hosts 1 hour workouts open to all students. Crossfit is “constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement” — a mix of gymnastics, weightlifing, and cardio.   • MiddHumanists: The Virtues of Idleness

    Join The Scott Center’s Affiliate Humanist Chaplain, Prof. Bill Vitek, for a conversation about the value of embracing idleness. We’ll be discussing a short (3-page) article by Arthur Brooks, “How to Embrace Doing Nothing,” that appeared in The Atlantic.  Cider and goodies will be served. All are welcome.

    Special Collections’ newest exhibit features 100 years of pop-up books from the fanciful to the functional, from science textbooks to fairy tales. The exhibit is installed in Davis Family Library on the Main Level.
