    Good Talks 2024 - Election Reflection

    Location: Town Hall Theater

    A week after the 2024 general election, we invite you to an inter-generational community conversation. We will begin with a short panel featuring Daniza Tazabekova ’26, State Senator Ruth Hardy, and Professor Bert Johnson. Participants will then join structured small groups to discuss the election results and invite reflection on our hopes and next steps. Refreshments and snacks provided.

    Artist, Jessica Dickinson Lecture

    Jessica Dickinson will discuss the development of her experimental studio practice, along with recent exhibitions. Deeply invested in abstraction as a way to understand sensations of time and change in lived experience, her work is primarily situated in painting and encompasses drawing, writing, and installations. Exploring durational shifts in light, matter, and perception, she works to offer space for the labor and process of paying attention. Dickinson is based in Brooklyn, NY and has exhibited widely, including the Solomon R.

    Using examples from our own teaching and course development, colleagues across disciplines will unpack ways to think about and apply three key inclusive design frameworks: clarity; choice and equity; and flexibility. We recognize that access is a practice. Sustainable inclusive design work requires beginning wherever we are and developing our knowledge and skills incrementally.
