As educators, researchers, and members of a fast-paced college community, we often work in static positions that can inhibit our creativity and sense of connection with others. This workshop aims to open up new ways to be in our bodies alone and together. Visiting movement artist Maree ReMalia, who has worked with faculty, staff and students across the disciplines at Middlebury to rave reviews, will facilitate. No particular experience with movement is needed. There will be an opportunity in the workshop to write and reflect on information you find in your body, so feel free to come with questions about work or life. This workshop is limited to faculty and staff. Questions about the workshop can be directed to Catharine Wright at cwwright@middlebury.edu

Maree ReMalia is a choreographer, performer, teaching artist, and certified Gaga instructor. An adoptee born in South Korea and raised in Ohio, embodied and creative practices support her in an ongoing process of self-discovery, expression, and liberation. In her work as a dance artist, she invites others into these unfolding processes with a focus on care and connection. She travels frequently as a guest artist creating collaborative performance works and facilitating movement experiences in a range of settings. From 2015-2017, Maree was Middlebury’s selected Movement Matters artist-in-residence. You can read more about her here
