SINOPSE: Benjamim trabalha no Circo Esperança junto com seu pai Valdemar. Juntos, eles formam a dupla de palhaços Pangaré & Puro Sangue e fazem a alegria da plateia. Mas a vida anda sem graça para Benjamin, que passa por uma crise existencial e assim, volta e meia, pensa em abandonar Lola, a mulher que cospe fogo, os irmãos Lorotta, Dona Zaira e o resto dos amigos da trupe. Seu pai e amigos lamentam o que está acontecendo com o companheiro, mas entendem que ele precisa encontrar seu caminho por conta própria.

Raimundo Nonato é um migrante nordestino que chega à cidade grande em busca de oportunidade. Aprende a profissão de cozinheiro, na qual se desenvolve e recebe uma melhor oportunidade de trabalho. Sua vida se complica ao se envolver com a prostituta Iria. O filme se passa entre o tempo atual na cadeia e a vida de Nonato no restaurante.

Join us for a lecture and Q&A by Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo.  She will be discussing her installation Minimum Monument: Art as Emergency.

Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo brings her internationally known “Minimum Monument” event to Middlebury. With help from students, faculty, staff and members of the Middlebury community, she will install 300+ ice sculptures (little men and women) outside Davis Library. And then we will leave them to melt… or will we? A visual metaphor for climate change, Azevedo’s work challenges the traditional meaning of the public monument: “in the place of the hero, the anonym; in the place of the solidity of the stone, the ephemeral process of the ice.” A community event not to be missed.
