Dance Fall Concert Auditions

Advanced student choreographers audition dancers for the annual Fall Dance Concert, Dec. 1-2, which includes the 2017 Newcomers’ Piece, directed by Julian Barnett. Dancers chosen for performance must attend a minimum of two approved technique classes consistently each week in order to be eligible to perform in program-sponsored events. Taking class supports the development of artistry, technical range, and performance skill. The Newcomers’ Piece is open to anyone who has not yet performed in a dance program-sponsored concert. All are welcome.

The Moonfish and The Knife is a dance-theatre piece inspired by the letters that the painter Salvador Dalí and the poet and playwright Federico García Lorca wrote to one another. Dali and Lorca shaped each other’s lives, each influencing the other in a dialog full of poetry, philosophy, sensuality, politics, and life. This piece invites the audience to journey through the imagination of these two artists, and discover the nuances of their erotic and tragic love. Miguel A.
