Acclaimed poet Arisa White and choreographer Laurel Jenkins direct Willow’s Apothecary, featuring The Dance Company of Middlebury College with live electronic music by McLean Macionis and cello by Robin Lane.

Join acclaimed poet Arisa White, interdisciplinary artist and choreographer Katherine Ferrier ‘91 for Moving Words, a workshop exploring the dynamic relationship between text and movement.

This informal showing demonstrates the research of Improvisational Practiced DANC0261 led by Professor Lida Winfield and musicians Ron Rost and Deborah Felmeth. Lighting will be improvised by Bert Crosby.

Please join Professor Meshi Chavez’s DANC0132 Intro to Butoh class and Professor Lida Winfield’s DANC0260 Technique and Composition class for an informal sharing of student choreography and a demonstration of student learning.

Jillian Meyers is an Emmy Nominated LA based Choreographer who has been an assistant to Brian Friedman, Tovaris Wilson, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Gil Duldulao and Mandy Moore. She worked with Moore on the award winning film La La Land and both herself and Moore earned Emmy nominations for their work on the hit series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Myers has been fortunate to work with leading musical acts such as The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Hozier, Janet Jackson, and more. Ultimately, Jillian loves to dance and is excited by any experience related to her passion.

This workshop is open to anyone interested in learning about dancing and choreographing for the camera. Join Emmy Nominated LA based Choreographer, Jillian Meyers, to learn the basics of choreography for the camera. Students will explore the integration of movement and cinematography and build a work with Jillian throughout the week. The residency will culminate with a presentation on Friday, November 2nd at 5pm. Students are welcome to check out the first class and then commit to the rest of the workshop and final showing.

Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement. Bring layers to adjust for temperature changes. Bare feet are preferred. No street shoes.
