SAO Presents: Noman's Land Film Festival

Register for a free ticket (or tickets for you and 4 friends) for the Noman’s Land Film Festival.  Students who are studying on-campus will be invited to come and watch the feature films starting at 7pm on Thursday 3/4, Friday 3/5 and Saturday 3/6 in person, if the public health landscape allows.  Please check the campus status page at the time of the event to see if in-person programming is happening.

Dead Parents & Pop Culture Therapy: A Talk by Comedian Brittany Ashley

Actor, writer, and comedian Brittany Ashley wrote the hit Buzzfeed web series “You Do You,” and is the writer and creator of the podcast Don’t Tell the Babysitter Mom’s Dead. Each episode, she interviews a new guest on their personal experience with losing a parent while also examining a pop culture touchstone that helped them cope with their loss. For this event, Brittany will talk about her own experience with losing her mother when she was six, while presenting TV & film moments that helped her grief process. A Q & A with the internet star will follow.

Breaking the Bonds of Modern Day Slavery: three perspectives on human trafficking

This event will be a panel consisting of Darlene Pawlik, a survivor of sex trafficking; Princy Prasad from Nomi Network; and Middlebury Professor Sarah Stroup, to offer an interdisciplinary lens on the issue of human trafficking- what it is, why it occurs, and how we can stop it. After a discussion among the panelists, there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.
