In this interactive lecture, Professor Tara Affolter, Education Studies, will read selections from her book, Through the Fog: Towards Inclusive Anti-Racist Teaching and invite audience members to engage in some crucial self-reflection. Resisting racism, agitating for change, and walking an inclusive anti-racist path requires commitment to unflinchingly look at one’s failures and examine silences.

The Price of Free: Screening

In honor of the Global Day of Action, Middlebury’s Stop Traffick organization, along with many other universities across the country, will be screening the 100 Million Campaign’s documentary “The Price of Free” (also known as “Kailash”). This documentary highlights the global issue of labor trafficking by shadowing Kailash Satyarthi on his mission to free children from labor trafficking in India. A brief discussion will follow, and food will be provided.

As a former Assistant Attorney General and United States Attorney, two-term Republican Governor of Massachusetts, as well as a current and former candidate for President of the United States, Bill Weld is no stranger to state and national politics. Come join Governor Weld for a speech and Q&A session covering everything from his work on the impeachment of Richard Nixon to his 2016 campaign as the Libertarian Party’s Vice Presidential candidate. Join us afterwards for a pizza social with Governor Weld in the RAJ Conference Room.
