“The Architecture of Music”
Featuring a live performance from the Middlebury College Choir

Grammy Award-winning composer and conductor, Eric Whitacre, is among today’s most popular musicians. His works are programmed worldwide and his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united over 100,000 singers from more than 145 countries. In this lecture, Eric will discuss his music and process through the lens of Architecture, exploring how the two art forms overlap and inform each other.

A Beneficiary Showcase of Ukrainian Resilience through Art

This third annual event celebrates the culture and resilience of the nation of Ukraine with music, poetry, film, and more.  Featuring the New York Crimean Tatar Ensemble, with a parade of performances by the Middlebury College Choir, the student band Chapel Hill, Middlebury College’s Ukrainian students, and other special guests. Admission is free, and information about donating to Ukrainian relief organizations will be provided.

In conjunction with the Middlebury Performing Arts Series’ presentation of Rachel Mars’ solo theatre show Your Sexts Are Sh*t: Older Better Letters, Middlebury College Special Collections offers an open house filled with objects of desire past and present. Stop by to view love letters, dance cards, crush lists, and other objects that showcase how Middlebury students express love and desire. Staff and students will be on hand to answer questions while you leaf through history.

Chase the winter doldrums away with some soothing piano music and hot cocoa at the MAC!

Take a little break from the cold and cozy up in the MAC lobby with cocoa and cookies while we treat you to some calming tunes on the piano. Whether you’re passing through to class, taking a lunch break, or staying a while to study, we invite you to experience the warm and relaxing vibe inside the MAC—no matter the temperature outside. Featuring student pianists Scott Li ’23.5, January 9^th and Kai Fukuda ’23.5, January 23rd. Open to Middlebury students, faculty, and staff.
