    Don’t miss the Vermont debut of this wholly original, classically-trained, composing pianist Nahre Sol, who’s amassed over 75 million views on her YouTube channel. Sol’s music draws from her diverse musical influences, from chamber music to ambient soundscapes, improvisation, and more. Expect to hear solo music (both familiar and original) that’s playful, colorful, agile, emotional, and picturesque.

    Hello! My name is Emma Wilson and I am a recipient of the 2025 Gilman International Scholarship. Please join me on January 20th from 4:30-5:30 at the AFC for a presentation on study abroad scholarships for low-income students and students of color who are interested in studying abroad. There will be a slide show presentation, as well as a Q&A with representatives from the SFS and International Programs offices present.   • Carol Rifelj Lecture Series: Hungry Monsters: Feeding and Quenching of Black Holes

    The existence of supermassive black holes, with millions to billions of times the mass of the Sun, residing at the centers of galaxies throughout the universe is well supported by a substantial body of indirect and, more recently, direct imaging evidence. When mass is pulled into a black hole gravitationally, in a process called ‘accretion’, a tremendous amount of energy is released signaling this growth in the form of a ‘quasar’. This growth is stochastic and episodic with a variety of routes for triggering and quenching.
