Why Enterprise Risk Management Is Important to Higher Education

As we continue to embark on Middlebury’s strategic direction, unleashing our vision of leading the institution into a new era of innovation, there is no greater risk than doing nothing at all. The ERM process is designed not only to avoid unnecessary risks but also to guide us in pursuing strategic risks that could yield a high return on investment. Janice Abraham, president and CEO of United Educators, explains in this video why ERM is so important.

Information security awareness is an institutional risk for Middlebury. Everyone plays a part helping the institution reduce and mitigate information security–related risks and threats. Be sure to visit Middlebury’s ITS information security website to learn about information security, regulations and policies, resources and tools, and details on phishing and malware.

Did You Know?

You can report an emergency to various campus resources using the emergency response guide. If you have an accounting/financial issue, human resources issue, or safety issue that you want to report anonymously, you can do so through Middlebury’s third party, EthicsPoint. College policy and state and federal law prohibit retaliation against an individual for reporting complaints in good faith.

Please note: EthicsPoint is not a 911 or emergency service. Do not use EthicsPoint to report events presenting an immediate threat to life or property. Reports submitted through EthicsPoint may not receive an immediate response. If you require emergency assistance, please contact your local authorities.
