Dear Middlebury Community,

We hope this message finds you well as another academic year gets under way. We are writing to provide an update on the presidential search. Over the summer and early fall, our search consultants at Isaacson, Miller met with faculty, staff, students, trustees, alumni, and the presidential search committee to gain a deep understanding of Middlebury, the opportunities and challenges facing our next president, and the qualities and experience we are seeking in candidates for the position. On behalf of the entire search committee, we want to thank you for contributing your time and perspectives to this important process, either through listening sessions or via the campus community feedback survey.

Your input helped shape a comprehensive position profile, which we have posted on Middlebury’s presidential search website. The profile will be used in an intensive recruitment effort to build a deep and diverse pool for the search committee’s consideration.

As the team at Isaacson, Miller partners with the search committee to engage potential candidates and helpful sources there will be additional opportunities to provide input into the ideal skills, experiences, and qualifications of the new president as well as what will make them successful. The Community Feedback Survey remains open, and the Isaacson, Miller team will conduct an all-campus listening session in Wilson Hall on October 8 at 9:30 a.m. ET for those who were unable to participate in earlier listening sessions.

Thank you again for your engagement. We will be in touch with additional updates as the search progresses.
