Health Services
Health Services provides comprehensive acute health care for students, including caring for musculoskeletal injuries; assisting students in meeting their health needs; and facilitating a partnership with students to increase their knowledge of health and healthcare issues.
Students Served
Our primary clinical services are delivered by Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Registered Nurses (RN). Our Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses see an average of approximately 1000 unique students per semester.
Care Coordination
Care coordination among CHW providers in the physical health, mental health, and health and wellness education domains creates a seamless, student-centered system of support. By ensuring intentional communication, shared goals, and coordinated care planning across disciplines, the CHW team can identify concerns early, reduce barriers to access, and ensure that students receive truly integrated support. In these ways, care coordination helps create a healthier, more supportive campus environment in which students are better positioned to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
Vaccination Compliance
Vermont State law requires college students to be vaccinated against a range of communicable diseases. Health Services is responsible for monitoring and facilitating compliance with this law as new students join our campus community.
Highlight: Protecting the Campus Community in an Evolving Health Landscape
In response to the resurgence of measles cases across the United States, Health Services assumed responsibility for the measles immunization verification process for summer programs, including the Language Schools, Bread Loaf School of English, and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference. With patience, creativity, and a solutions-oriented approach, the team successfully supported students and program staff to achieve over 90% immunization compliance among summer students in just a few short weeks. Building on this work, Health Services is developing customized strategies to streamline verification processes, enhance communication, and better leverage technology for Summer 2027. These efforts will create a more consistent and equitable experience for all Vermont-based students while ensuring access to the support needed to meet immunization requirements.
