On Monday, the College informed students who remain in campus housing for Spring Term that they will not be able to stay on campus during the summer. The College’s senior leadership made this difficult decision after careful consideration of many factors. (The announcement is here.) The College will continue to provide housing and meals to students on campus through Sunday, May 31.

We write with a warm hello and to check in. We have wanted to reach out to you for some time now, yet our attention has been on time-sensitive issues that demanded our full attention. ISSS has been extremely busy these past couple of days, communicating with our international students and scholars regarding the ever-evolving COVID-19 situation. As valued members of the Middlebury College community, we want you to be aware of the latest developments on campus. The decision to move to remote learning took many of us by surprise and we are doing our best to communicate out to our many constituencies.

This is a follow-up email to President Patton’s message about precautionary steps being taken by our institution in response to the COVID-19 virus in the U.S. We know that there has been much information shared today within a short time frame and it may feel overwhelming.
