Community-of-Practice Breakfast Gathering for Project-Based Learning and Community-Connected Learning, Wednesday 2/18, 8:15 - 9:15 AM at Shiretown Market
If you want to learn more about Project-Based Learning and/or Community-Connected Learning or you’re already engaged in these pedagogical approaches, come join a group that supports each other every month over free food. After a January hiatus, we are reconvening over breakfast at Shiretown on Wednesday, February 18, from 8:15 - 9:15 or however long you can stay. Members of the CTLR and CCE will be there to facilitate a conversation shaped by what practitioners bring to the table. Folks from the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) will kick off the conversation with news of upcoming changes to their Academic Outreach Endowment Grants and their Project Assistant program. We’ll have a tab open at the counter. No registration necessary.
Inclusive Teachers: Celebrating the Nominees for the Inclusive Design for Learning Award, Tuesday, 2/24, 12:00 - 1:30 PM, CTLR Lounge
The CTLR and AGDAI (Advisory Group on Disability, Access, and Inclusion) are pleased to announce that Lida Winfield, Assistant Professor of Dance, is the winner of this year’s Inclusive Design for Learning Award. Members of the College community also nominated Maryait Khader (Arabic), Olga Sanchez-Saltveit (Theatre), Susan Burch (American Studies), and Philip Caplan (Computer Science) for the award. Please join us in celebrating and learning from this talented group of educators, who will describe their approach to inclusivity in their course design. It’s not too late to infuse your own teaching approach with their good ideas about inclusive learning. For meal planning purposes, please register for this event by Tuesday, 2/17. We will gather in the CTLR Lounge in Davis Family Library at noon.
Community-of-Practice Lunch Gathering for Grappling with AI in Education, Thursday, 2/26, 12:00-1:30 PM, CTLR Lounge
The CTLR and DLINQ are back at it this Spring with their Community-of-Practice support group for educators interested in exploring questions related to AI in education. If you’re skeptical, curious, or already dabbling in how to use AI with intention in your work with students, you are welcome to join us for casual, collegial conversation each month. This is an opportunity to lean on and learn from each other. This semester, we will meet for lunch one Thursday a month. In February, we will gather for a catered meal on Thursday, the 26th, at 12:00 in the CTLR. Arrive when you can; stay for as long as you like. Please do register for this event by Thursday, 2/19, so that we can be sure to have enough food for you.
