Late Fall Fellowship Opportunities

Tue, Sept. 24 at 4:30-5:30 pm ET in LIB 201
Learn about fellowships with late fall and winter deadlines: Beinecke, CLS, David Weill, Goldwater, Keasbey, St. Andrews, Truman, and Udall. These include awards for graduate study, summer study, and undergraduate study in various fields. The session led by Dean Lisa Gates will provide a quick overview of the fellowships and nomination process. Registration is appreciated.

Pre-Health Info Session II: Anatomy of an Applicant

This pre-health info session is designed to help prospective candidates determine when/how to be most competitive in the medical school application process and will emphasize AAMC competencies, how to articulate your ‘why,’ and strategies for identifying strong individual letters of recommendation. go/hp

Pre-Health Info Session III: Medical School Application Timeline Review (Virtual)

Join the health professions team as they demystify the professional school application process. Mary Lothrop and Hannah Benz will be leading this session on Middlebury’s internal health professions committee and how to develop and submit a competitive medical school application. They’ll be joined by candidates who have already gone through the HPC review process and will be able to share their personal insights. No registration necessary. UK Fellowships, Watson, and Fulbright Info Session

Learn about these fellowships for seniors and alumni. UK fellowships include Rhodes, Marshall, Churchill and Gates-Cambridge. Fellowships support graduate study and postgraduate research and independent projects in various fields. The session led by Dean Lisa Gates will provide a quick overview of the fellowships and nomination process. This is a great session for Febs and students heading abroad in the spring. Registration is appreciated.

Explore the Advantages of a Graduate Degree in the UK

Join admissions advisors from top universities in all four nations of the United Kingdom to learn more about searching for a program, applications and deadlines, funding options, and more! Regional Managers from University of St. Andrews (Scotland), Queen’s University Belfast (Northern Ireland), Cardiff University (Wales), and Imperial College London (England) will be on hand to provide general information about UK graduate degrees, answer questions, and tell you more about each of their universities. Sign up to receive the Zoom link (available later in Sept.)

Senior Research Project Supplement (SRPS)

Deadline for senior work applications up to $1,200 for SRPS and $3,000 for eligible projects involving international research or Russian-related topics. Deadline for applications $350 or less is rolling. go/srps

Looking for Undergraduate Research Positions on Campus?

Start by checking out the website of the department you’re interested in then talk with faculty whose research interests you. A few departments have a sign-up process online, including go/neuroscience (due 9/27) and go/econ. In the coming weeks, applications will open for the Middlebury College HHMI Scholars Program, an introductory immersion experience in scientific inquiry for first-year students and sophomores. Hertz Fellowship: Funding for graduate study, STEM fields. Seniors/alumni. High GPA; US citizen or permanent resident; GRE or MCAT scores (for MD/PhD) required. Deadline Nov. 1 (11:59 pm PT). hertzfoundation.org 

Keasbey Scholarship: Funding for graduate study at universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh and Oxford. Must have 3.7+ GPA, US citizen. Seniors/super-seniors only. Nomination applications due in MiddApply Oct. 7. go/keasbey 

Michel David-Weill Scholarship: Supports a two-year master’s program at Sciences Po (France). Must be US citizens, seniors/super-seniors, minimum GPA of 3.7. Candidates apply independently to Sciences Po. French not needed to apply. Nomination application deadline is Oct. 15 (noon). go/david-weill

NSF GRFP: Funding for graduate study, STEM fields. Seniors/alumni. High GPA; US citizen, US national, permanent resident. nsfgrfp.org

Soros Fellowship: Funding for graduate study for new Americans. Seniors/alumni eligible. Applications due Oct. 31 (2 pm ET). pdsoros.org 

St. Andrews Scholarship: Funding for graduate study in Scotland. Seniors/super-seniors only.  Must have 3.7+ GPA, financial need, US citizenship, some Scottish ancestry. Nomination applications due Nov. 10. go/standrews

For Sophomores and Juniors
 

Beinecke Scholarship: Funding for graduate study in humanities and social sciences. Juniors only. Strong academic performance, documented financial need, US citizen or US national. Nomination applications due Nov. 10. go/beinecke

DAAD Rise: STEM summer research internships in Germany. Sophomores, juniors eligible. No German language required. Accepting applications Oct. 15 - Nov. 30 (11:59 CET). daad.de/rise/en/rise-germany

Goldwater Scholarship: Tuition award, STEM students planning research careers. Sophomores and juniors eligible. Must have 3.7+ GPA, US citizen or US national. Nomination applications due Nov. 10. go/goldwater

Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship (NOAA): Tuition award, NOAA internships and mentorship. Sophomores eligible to apply; must be a US citizen working in NOAA-related field. Application deadline Jan. 31 (11:59 ET). noaa.gov

PPIA Junior Summer Institute: Fully-funded summer program for juniors committed to public service careers, focuses on underrepresented groups. Must be junior, US citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient; international students eligible at some PPIA programs; financial need considered. Applications due Nov. 1. ppiaprogram.org

Truman Scholarship: Funding for public service-related graduate degree. Juniors only. Strong GPA, US citizen, record of leadership and public service. Nomination applications due Nov. 10. go/truman

Critical Language Scholarships: Immersive summer study abroad in 15 languages. All class years eligible to apply; must be a US citizen. Application opens early Oct. (check back at their website); deadline in Nov. clscholarship.org
