April 2008
Dear Friends,
It’s time to register for our 20th reunion! So mark your calendar and send your registration materials back to Middlebury today, or register online. Reunion 2008, June 6–8, promises to be fantastic.
We hope that those of you who haven’t been back to Vermont in a while remember how beautiful the College is. You won’t believe some of the incredible changes. We have a variety of fun activities planned that will virtually guarantee a great weekend for everyone who can make it. Children are especially welcome—most reunion events include them, and our headquarters will be stocked with kid-friendly food and beverages. There’s a topnotch child-care program scheduled so parents can get some time to visit and pursue their own interests.
So far, our weekend includes many activities that are designed for all reunion classes, as well as some especially for our class. A brief glimpse:
Friday, June 6: Registration opens at 3 p.m. in the large lounge in Hepburn Hall, our reunion headquarters. Parking will be located along Hillcrest Road. From downtown Middlebury (Rt. 30S): Bear right onto Route 125W (College Street), turn left at the blinking light onto Hillcrest Road; parking is along the tennis courts on the left. From the south (Rt. 30N): Travel north on Route 30 (South Main Street), take a hard left onto Route 125W (College Street), turn left at the blinking light onto Hillcrest Road; parking is along the tennis courts on the left.
Various events will be scheduled throughout the afternoon, and Friday evening we’re invited to a reception and dinner under a tent behind the Mahaney Center for the Arts.
Saturday, June 7: After breakfast, morning activities will include a 5K fun run (meaning bring the family), tours of campus, and lectures. We will have lunch at the Mahaney Center for the Arts. No child care is necessary here because all sorts of activities have been planned for children—magic shows, face painting, a kite flying demonstration, and art projects. That afternoon we will gather for our class photo, reunion parade, and Alumni Convocation. Saturday evening we will join all reunion classes for a wonderful dinner, followed by an evening of concerts.
Anyone wishing to play golf during the weekend should find a foursome and join the all-class golf scramble (details enclosed), or you may contact Midd’s pro shop at 802.443.5125 to reserve a tee time. There are special alumni greens fees, so be sure to mention the 20th reunion. Another option is swimming in the College’s new Olympic-size pool.
Sunday, June 7: Again this year, Sunday chapel will include the Alumni Choir; so do plan to sing if you wish. We close the weekend with brunch.
If you have questions or need help, contact Heather Cahill in the alumni office.
Please try to return to Middlebury for this special reunion. Call your friends and organize that trip to Vermont. You’ll never regret making the effort to reconnect with the people and place that played such an important role in your life 20 years ago. Remember, it’s all happening June 6–8.
Sincerely,
Kate Grund Kane
Beth Zogby
P.S. Please give your support to the 20th reunion fund-raising efforts. Your gift counts more than ever; if 59 percent of alumni give a gift this year, an anonymous donor will donate an extra $1 million to the Alumni Fund. Make a gift online.
