April 2008
Dear Classmates,
Every five years we get the chance to return to Middlebury as a class and enjoy all that the College has to offer. We hope that you can join us this coming June 6–8, so that we can celebrate our 15th reunion together. It will be a weekend filled with events that promise to be extraordinary. A variety of activities are planned for you, your families, and your friends, and the Middlebury staff will be working hard to make the weekend relaxing, fun, and welcoming.
In addition to spending the weekend with our friends and classmates, you’ll get to experience current student life firsthand. As you’ve no doubt heard, things have improved mightily since we lived in the New Dorms! There are state-of-the-art science labs, a fully equipped modern library, beautiful new dormitories, an astro-turf sports field, a spacious natatorium, and a superb climbing wall. While much has been done to keep pace with the times, there is also plenty that remains in the Middlebury tradition—Proctor, Battell, Allen, Stewart, Munroe, Warner, and Mead Chapel. All of these places (and the memories you have of them) await your return.
Speaking of Stewart Hall, we’ll get right back into the spirit of Middlebury by taking over Stewart as headquarters for our class reunion weekend.
If you plan to attend, please return your registration materials as soon as possible or register on the Web. We recommend that you register ASAP (child-care programs do fill up). In addition to registering with the College, please check out our 15th reunion events page on Facebook. Our event is titled “Midd Class of 1993 - 15th Reunion." You should be able to find it by typing a search for Midd Reunion. We cannot wait to see you!
REUNION ACTIVITIES
Here are the weekend details:
· Friday and Saturday nights, we will gather for a class dinner at the tented reunion village behind the Mahaney Center for the Arts.
· Saturday night festivities continue with entertainment by a great alumni band, the Grift, in Pepin.
· Our class photo will be taken on Saturday afternoon. Look for the time at our headquarters when you arrive. Families are welcome, a testament to how much our class has grown!
· A host of activities is planned for Saturday, including a 5K run on the cross-country trail, the second annual reunion row, a tour of the new library, and continuing education. Our lunch is on the Mahaney Center for the Arts plaza. There will be a variety of activities for children, including a magic show, face painting, and a visit from the Middlebury panther!
· Anyone wishing to play golf during the weekend should find a foursome and join the all-class golf scramble (details enclosed), or you may contact Midd’s pro shop at 802.443.5125 to reserve a tee time. There are special alumni greens fees, so be sure to mention the 15th reunion.
· On Saturday at 10 a.m., Daniel Scheidt and Becky Chollet are leading a 15-mile bike trip along the back roads of Middlebury, best for mountain or hybrid bikes. Kids and adults are welcome. Please remember to bring a helmet, water, and snacks, and please meet at the Bike Center at 74 Main Street in downtown Middlebury, where rentals are available. The bike trip will be cancelled in the event of rain. If you have questions, please call Daniel at 802.651.9490.
· Parking for Stewart Hall is located behind Proctor, near the tennis courts—yes they are still there.
Most important, if you haven’t yet, start talking to all your Midd friends and finalize your plans for what promises to be a memorable reunion weekend!
Also, please contact us if you can volunteer or if you have any suggestions or questions. You can also contact Heather Cahill in the reunion office for additional assistance.
We look forward to seeing you and your family back at Middlebury this June.
All our best and enjoy life,
Jon Hanlon

P.S. Please give your support to the 15th reunion fund-raising efforts. Your gift counts more than ever. If 59 percent of alumni give a gift this year, an anonymous donor will donate an extra $1 million to the Alumni Fund. Our class participation goal is 55 percent, and we are just about halfway to our goal. Make a gift online.
