For Current Updates on COVID-19:

The Parents’ Committee serves to increase the resources necessary for Middlebury students to become the educated leaders of tomorrow’s world. We are a group of families that build philanthropic support for Middlebury through peer-to-peer outreach. The funds we raise, the friendships we create, and the networks we build make Middlebury strong and make our own students more likely to succeed.

Acting under the direction of the Office of Parent Giving and collaborating with regional Advancement officers who represent Middlebury, we raise money for the Parents’ Fund and provide a personal connection to Middlebury for families across the United States and the world.

We each work closely with a portfolio of eight to 10 families and, as appropriate, attend or host parent events. In these ways, we strengthen the bonds of engagement and philanthropy that form the Middlebury community and are an essential part of the academic, extracurricular, and experiential programs that benefit all undergraduate students.

When our daughter Emily enrolled at Middlebury, we had no prior connections to the College and had only recently moved to New England. As parents, initially we didn’t imagine we would be directly involved with Middlebury. That changed when we were immediately welcomed by staff, faculty, and other parents. We were delighted to find we were suddenly part of a strong, vibrant college community. We joined the Parents’ Committee and, over the years, have had the opportunity to make new friends, learn about opportunities and challenges facing higher ed, and contribute to Middlebury, both financially and intellectually. Our second daughter, Stacy, also chose Midd, and even though both of our daughters have now graduated, we continue to serve as Parents’ Committee co-chairs, and the whole family is still involved with Middlebury. We look forward to “paying it forward” and welcoming YOU to the committee!
