Curriculum

Students at the School in Japan take a variety of language and content-based courses... the latter being alongside their Japanese peers.

Courses at ICU are taught in either Japanese (J), English (E), Japanese with some English (J/E), or English with some Japanese (E/J).

All students are required to take Japanese language classes during the fall and mixture of language and content courses during the winter and spring trimesters.

Students who have finished their third year of Japanese prior to attending the School in Japan may take Advanced Japanese 1 plus two electives in the fall, Advanced Japanese 2 and two electives during the winter, and all elective classes during the spring semester.  These students will be able to take courses taught entirely in Japanese by the spring, and in some cases by the winter trimester.
