Students at the School in Japan take a variety of language and content-based courses alongside their Japanese peers.

Students at the School in Japan take a combination of Japanese Language Program (JLP) courses through our partner institution, Middlebury classes with their cohort taught by Middlebury faculty, and, each trimester, a direct enrollment course at International Christian University (ICU). See course descriptions.

Direct enrollment courses at ICU are taught in either Japanese (J), or English (E). Our students are required to take content courses in Japanese. On occasion, an exception may be made for students to take a course solely in English (E).

Middlebury students may also take a PE class at ICU that will transfer back to Middlebury for PE credit.
