Barbara joined the Middlebury College community the summer of 2013.  Barbara is a generalist in college-based health education, but her specialty areas include sexual health, women's/LGBTQ health, violence prevention, advocacy, and peer education and leadership development. She has a special interest in intersectional health promotion and prevention, which focuses on meeting the skill-building and resource needs of high impact populations.

Barbara earned her Master of Public Health degree in community health education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst where her graduate project focused on peer health educators and student leadership in higher education. She has also certificates in LGBT Health (Drexel University) and Advancing Cultural Competancy (University at Albany). Her undergraduate degree in biology and a certificate in culture, health, and science come from Mount Holyoke College. She is a master certified health education specialist, a nationally credentialed campus advocate, and a trainer for a number of health-based curricula. 

When Barbara isn't at work she's hanging out at home with her partner, dogs, and chickens, cooking, reading, or reading about cooking.
