From the food we serve to the way we commute to how we plan for the future, Middlebury has numerous programs and activities to support our sustainability commitment.
Global Food Program
The Global Food Program ensures that our students, faculty, and staff are consuming food that is local, sustainable, and healthy, and helps educate the community about the sustainable food system.
Following a set of guiding principles, Middlebury requires sustainable design for new buildings on campus.
The community benefits from green transportation options, including public transit buses, airport shuttles, ridesharing, and more.
From purchasing green cleaning products to composting nearly 300 tons of food waste annually, Middlebury responsibly manages our resources.
In accordance with the College’s Master Plan, Middlebury makes strategic campus expansion decisions that promote sustainability, enhance our relationship to the ecological landscape, and improve our relationship with the town.
