- About Middlebury
Koby Altman ’04 was elevated to president of basketball operations of the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2022. He manages and oversees all aspects of scouting, personnel, player acquisitions and transactions, and team operations. Altman also oversees the Cavaliers’ exclusive NBA G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge. With community involvement being integral to Altman’s focus with his team, he also guides the team’s player appearance committee in partnership with the business side of the Cavs organization. Prior to joining the Cavaliers staff in 2012, he was an assistant coach at Columbia University, a graduate assistant at Southern Illinois University, and a coach at Amherst College. A sociology major and three-year starting point guard at Middlebury, he went on to earn his master’s degree at the University of Massachusetts. He is on the national board of directors of the Posse Foundation, which identifies, recruits, and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership potential, providing full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities, including Middlebury.
