What Seniors Are Actually Doing Right Now and Why You’re Not Behind

Feb Break can bring a lot of feelings. Relief. Restlessness. And that question many seniors don’t always say out loud: Am I doing enough?
If that thought has crossed your mind, you’re not alone. You’re also not off track.
As February unfolds, seniors across campus are taking meaningful (and very normal) steps toward what’s next. Their paths don’t look identical, and that’s exactly the point. Here’s what’s really happening right now, and how the Center for Careers and Internships (CCI) is supporting seniors through to graduation (and beyond).
First: A Reality Check
Most seniors assume everyone else has their plans locked in. In reality? Many are still figuring things out, applying, rethinking, exploring, and asking better questions than ever before. February is one of the busiest months at CCI, not because seniors are behind, but because they’re ready to be intentional.
Seniors Are Checking In Because Talking It Through Helps
A short conversation can go a long way.
Right now, many seniors are booking Senior Check-Ins, focused, one-on-one conversations with a CCI advisor to talk through next steps, troubleshoot uncertainty, and regain momentum. These meetings are a chance to pause, reflect, and leave with clarity.

Applications Are Still Happening (and Plans Are Still Shifting)
Some seniors are actively applying to jobs or internships. Others are revising plans after fall didn’t go as expected. Both are common. Both are okay.
To help stay grounded and informed, many students are leaning on Career Community newsletters, which deliver opportunities, timelines, and advice tailored to specific interests and fields.

Original Plans Are Being Rewritten, and That’s Normal
Switching industries. Adding backup options. Considering graduate school or a gap year. These decisions don’t mean something went wrong, they just mean students are learning more about themselves and the world they’re entering. CCI advisors and Handshake Resources are helping seniors explore new paths, assess options, and make informed choices with confidence.
Career Support Is in High Demand

Interview Prep Is Real and Happening Now
Some seniors are preparing for interviews. Others are realizing it’s time to start.
Big Interview is one of the most-used tools this season, offering:
- Mock interviews
- Common questions by industry
- Guided lessons
- Résumé feedback
It’s practical, flexible, and designed to help students feel prepared… not perfect.
Seniors Are Thinking About How They Show Up
Confidence matters, especially in interviews, networking, and first jobs.
That’s why the Middlebury Career Closet is a new essential resource this spring. It supports students in looking and feeling their best with access to professional attire and styling support.
What’s available:
- Online styling & outfit rentals: Custom outfit rentals (with purchase options), one-on-one virtual styling, and tutorials. Inclusive of all sizes, genders, and backgrounds. Financial aid available.

Seniors Are Reaching Out to Alumni
From LinkedIn messages to informational conversations, seniors are building connections and learning how to do it thoughtfully.
Midd2Midd helps students find alumni, craft outreach, and navigate follow-ups with purpose.
Many seniors are trying to enjoy their final semester while quietly carrying some uncertainty. That mix of excitement and stress? Completely normal. Progress doesn’t have to look perfect. You don’t need everything figured out. Staying connected, and asking for support, is often the most important step. If you’re not sure where to start, that’s okay. Start with a conversation.
