    Don’t write alone this finals season. Come join the Middlebury Writing Center at our annual write-in event hosted virtually this fall. Write among your peers in a structured yet friendly setting.     Some of the College’s current jazz students - instrumentalists and singers - will present selections from their term’s work. It’s a celebration of the music that’s been called America’s National Treasure. Presented by the Music Department.

    We’re MCAB but at the end of the day what makes MCAB able to create a social atmosphere on this campus is connecting with all of you! Andy Nagy-Benson and others, and sponsored by the Scott Center for Spiritual & Religious Life.

  • Story Circles 2021-2022: Dreams

    Story Circles are sponsored by Middlebury’s Anti-Racist Task Force. Story Circles are facilitated by Christal Brown, Anti-Racist Task Force Director and Alexander Twilight Artist in Residence. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend the story circles to listen and share. As Middlebury College builds an authentic community that functions on the principles of anti-racism, it is important to acknowledge our collective history as well as our personal stories. Stories are limited to 3 minutes and offered in generosity. No advanced preparation is necessary.

  • midd.data lightning talk: Using Digital Humanities to Recover Lost Histories of Slavery. Elsa Mendoza, History Dept.

    Digital humanities tools such as databases and digitization have offered new insights into the histories of enslaved people. These digital archives raise crucial questions about the use and access of data, the representation of race and lived experiences in databases, and the power of these tools in humanizing and dehumanizing historical narratives. This talk will explore how digital humanities can increase access to stories forgotten in the archive and the issues in replicating violent and exclusionary documents in digital form.
