    Join us for an interactive workshop sponsored by Conflict Transformation and the Climate Action Program on Nonviolent Direct Action with Dr Emily Welty and Dr Matthew Bolton on April 8th from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. The workshop will include specific case studies and explore how to name a strategic demand, how to identify the opponent/decision maker and their needs, how to think carefully about tactics and what the ethical challenges are in building grassroots campaigns.     Olivier Knox is Senior National Correspondent at U.S. News and World Report, where he has written about national politics and foreign policy since June 2024. Before that, he worked at The Washington Post, SiriusXM, Yahoo News, and 15 years at Agence France-Presse. Throughout his three-decade career, he has focused on Congress and the White House, traveled the world on Air Force One, interviewed presidents and lawmakers and, crucially, talked to knowledgeable staff as he tried to tell readers and listeners all over the world what was really happening and how it might affect their lives.

    Documentary screening and Q&A: Removed by Force: The Eviction of Hawai'i’s Japanese Americans During World War II

    Removed by Force: The Eviction of Hawai`i’s Japanese Americans During World War II. This one-hour documentary sheds light on the relatively unknown experiences of the 1,500 Americans of Japanese ancestry from 23 geographic areas in Hawai`i who were evicted, but not incarcerated, during World War II. Following the screening, we will have a Q&A with the film’s producers and the Middlebury College and International Christian University students who created the Japanese subtitles for the film.
