  • Middlebury College Carillon Series: Jessica Ip, Assistant Carillonneur, University of Chicago

    As part of the Carillon Series’ Fall Festival, guest artist Jessica Ip will perform a beautiful concert from Middlebury Chapel’s bell tower. The melodic sounds of the carillon bells will ring out across the campus. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket! Free and open to the public.

  • Korean Drumming

    Drop-in to learn to play the traditional Korean percussion genre samulnori. Samulnori blends traditional Korean rhythms into dynamic pieces using four Korean percussion instruments: janggu (hourglass drum), buk (barrel drum), jing (large gong), and ggwaenggwari (small gong). Participants will start by learning technique and basic rhythms and progress to more complex rhythms and sequences. No experience needed!

    Caroline Shaw and So Percussion (feat. Ringdown)

    So Percussion has redefined chamber music through their commitment to the creation and amplification of new work. The ensemble is celebrated for a dazzling range of activities: live performances, contributions to education and community, and the creation of opportunities and platforms for music and artists. In their Middlebury debut, they’ll collaborate with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, featuring songs and highlights from their latest co-composed album Rectangles and Circumstance.

    Choreography for the Camera: Weeklong Residency with Jillian Meyers

    Join Emmy Nominated LA based Choreographer, Jillian Meyers, to learn the basics of choreography for the camera. Students will explore the integration of movement and cinematography and build a work with Jillian throughout the week. The residency will culminate with a presentation on Friday, November 2nd at 5pm. Students are welcome to check out the first class and then commit to the rest of the workshop and final showing.

    Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement. Bring layers to adjust for temperature changes. Bare feet are preferred. No street shoes.

  • Migmar Tsering: Tibetan artist and dancer

    Migmar Tsering, a Tibetan artist and dancer, will talk about his experiences from early life, leaving Tibet, growing up in India, going to school, migrating to Vermont in 2011, and how he has adapted here – focusing on how he and the Vermont Tibetan community have worked to continue Tibetan cultural practices and why. Sharing stories, songs, and dance (dranyen playing), Migmar will tell us about the complexities and nuances of migration while sharing how much migrants bring to table, such as generating new knowledge production, culture, and community-building practices.

  • Jillian Meyers with ballons

    Dance for Camera Movement Matters with Jillian Meyers

    This workshop is open to anyone interested in learning about dancing and choreographing for the camera. Jillian Meyers is an Emmy Nominated LA based Choreographer who has been an assistant to Brian Friedman, Tovaris Wilson, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Gil Duldulao and Mandy Moore. She worked with Moore on the award winning film La La Land and both herself and Moore earned Emmy nominations for their work on the hit series Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Myers has been fortunate to work with leading musical acts such as The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Hozier, Janet Jackson, and more.
