Alina Ibragimova, Violin and Cédric Tiberghien, Piano

We close our 105th season with the dynamic duo of violinist Alina Ibragimova and pianist Cédric Tiberghien. The two developed a tremendous rapport during their term as individual BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists, where their unique partnership was observed by The Times of London: “Both of these players have the potential to conquer the world.” During this Middlebury return, Ibragimova and Tiberghien will play Janácek, Enescu, Gerald Barry’s vivacious Triorchic Blues, and Beethoven’s iconic “Kreutzer” sonata.

  • A Real Pain: Screening followed by discussion

We are pleased to present “A Real Pain,” in observance of the April’s Holocaust Memorial Day, or Yom HaShoah. The Oscar winning film follows two American cousins as they travel to Poland to witness the place where their grandmother survived the Holocaust. The film addresses intergenerational trauma and the question of how best to remember tragedy in a serious, yet not too heavy-handed way—mixing humor and recognizable family dynamics with philosophical questions. Rabbi Danielle Stillman will lead a discussion after the movie for those who wish.
