Jane Lindholm is this year’s Robert W. van de Velde Memorial Lecturer.

She hosts the award-winning Vermont Public Radio program Vermont Edition. She is also the host and creator of But Why: A Podcast For Curious Kids. Jane joined VPR in 2007 to expand Vermont Edition from a weekly pilot into the flagship daily newsmagazine it is today. She has been recognized with regional and national awards for interviewing and use of sound.

Put a Price On It: a Panel Discussion on Carbon Pricing at Middlebury & Beyond

Join us for pizza and a screening of the carbon pricing documentary, Priceless, from the series Years of Living Dangerously. Following the screening there will be a panel discussion of carbon pricing at the national, state, and campus College. The discussion is a part of Carbon Pricing Initiative to encourage Middlebury to endorse federal and Vermont carbon pricing efforts and implement an internal carbon surcharge at Middlebury. The screening will begin at 6pm and the panel discussion at 7pm. Pizza (not Green Peppers) will be served at 5:45pm.

Bruce Klingner, Middlebury Class of 1982, is Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, where he specializes in Korean and Japanese affairs. Prior to joining the Heritage Foundation, he spent 20 years working for the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency. His talk is titled,”North Korea: Assessing the Threat and U.S. Policy Recommendations” and will take a critical look at the state of relations between the United States and North Korea during the Trump presidency
