Andrés Oyaga (he/him) is a young researcher, organizer, and agroecologist who hails from Los Angeles, California, with familial and ancestral roots in Guatemala. He graduated from Middlebury College in 2023 with a B.A. in Environmental Justice, bringing an agroecological, anti-capitalist, and justice-focused lens to all his work and shenanigans. He is excited to join the Environmental Affairs team as the new Climate Action Coordinator for the Climate Action Program (CAP) after being a Climate Action Fellow and Knoll Intern for 2 years as an undergraduate. He is eager to continue supporting students on their climate action journeys and working on projects related to intersectional climate education and pedagogy on campus. Andrés resides in Burlington and is a volunteer at and lover of The Knoll, past Foodways Organizer for the VT Releaf Collective, a collective member of the Vermont Agroecology School (a project of Rural Vermont), a researcher with collaborators at the Institute for Agroecology at UVM, translator and interpreter for anti-oppression groups throughout the state, and doing the spadework in other ways. His door is always open.
