Christy joined Middlebury College in July 2019 to serve in the role of Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). She provides undergraduate degree-seeking students visa and immigration support, facilitates relevant programming, and is the staff advisor to the International Students’ Organization (ISO).

Prior to joining Middlebury College, Christy worked in international enrollment at both public and private higher education institutions (in the U.S. and Europe) for over 15 years. In this capacity, she has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and Southeast Asia.

Intercultural competency-building has been a strong and present passion for Christy. Beginning in her undergraduate studies, she participated in an Honors Program Exchange at Volgograd State University in Volgograd, Russia. Directly after her bachelor’s degree, she lived and worked in Sicily, Italy for several years supporting local and government communications through intercultural liaising for the U.S. Navy. Christy then attended SIT Graduate Institute to pursue a Master’s in International Education from 2001-2002. Upon completion of her studies, she returned to Europe to work at the University of Malta in the office of the Foundation for International Studies, as well as the Mediterranean Institute where she assisted in curriculum development for a degree program in Cultural Management.

Christy is excited to arrive back in Vermont after many stops in between. She and her spouse enjoy kayaking, snowshoeing, camping in the Vermont State Parks, traveling in pursuit of the best espresso-based coffee, and sitting on their deck watching for wildlife and the changing seasons.
