In general, I catalog media materials, electronic books, and periodicals. Cataloging involves creating, editing, and/or deleting bibliographic and related records in our local catalog and the OCLC international database. I also perform various database management and clean-up processes, in part working with outside vendors. I upload our local record information to our discovery system to ensure accurate results for users. I answer questions, investigate and resolve problems, conflicts, and discrepancies of information associated with records in the catalog or discovery system. I’ve been doing this long enough to actually remember that database management filing in the card catalog!
