Middlebury staff members are encouraged to continually grow and develop their job-related skills. To support this effort, the staff development fund is available to help staff members engage with learning activities that will enhance job performance.

This fund is available to help pay for all or part of registration fees for workshops, webinars, conferences, or other developmental activities. Any travel expenses or expenses in excess of the fund limit would need to be covered by your departmental budget.

If you have been employed at Middlebury for 90 days or more, you may apply for up to $500 toward the cost of registration per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

The process is simple:

  • Identify an opportunity
  • Check in with your supervisor before moving forward
  • Complete this brief form
  • A Human Resources team member will follow up on next steps

The fund supports a variety of work-related development activities that may include: participation in short courses, workshops, and training programs, as well as opportunities for staff members to prepare training programs and workshops for other employees on campus.

Tuition payments for accredited college-level or graduate-level courses are not typically covered by Staff Development, but may be funded via the Continuing Education Fund. If you are interested in no-cost professional development check out Grow at Middlebury program, which includes a broad set of workshops and learning opportunities for Middlebury employees offered throughout the year.
