Faculty

As students’ ability to attend classes in-person continues to be disrupted, faculty are encouraged to accommodate students and reach out to the CTLR and DLINQ as needed.

Dear Colleagues,

As we head into the spring semester, we wanted to update you on a conversation that continues to inform our teaching practices.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our lives and you are likely to have more student absences in your classes than in pre-pandemic semesters. You should continue to make accommodations for students who are compelled to miss class for medical reasons. This may include sharing your notes and power point slides on canvas, meeting with students during office hours, creating a buddy system among students, or establishing small learning communities.

Over the last two years, we have become adept at using zoom and we have often transformed our classes into hybrid spaces using hyflex technologies. However, we recognize the challenges that come with using multiple modalities within a single course, and so during the spring semester we encourage you to consider non-zoom alternatives to accommodate student needs.

Please consult with colleagues in CTLR and DLINQ who are available to help you develop accommodation practices.

Wishing you well for the spring semester.
