The Q-Center has two floors. The upper floor houses the main entrance and front desk, collaborative group study spaces, drop-in peer tutoring for STEM courses, faculty and TA office hours, events and workshops, staff offices, conference rooms, and printer. Our lower level has a quiet study room, collaborative group study spaces, classrooms, rooms for small group work and tutoring, faculty offices, office hour spaces, computer lab and plotter (for academic purposes), and restrooms.

Writing Center

Melissa Hammerle,Director of the Writing Center, FYSE Program, and Assistant Professor of Education Studies

Writing Center tutors work with students at all stages of their writing, including brainstorming and generating ideas, reviewing writing assignment guidelines, organizing and structuring essays, getting feedback on such issues as writing mechanics and persuasive rhetorical strategies. Tutors can also help with writing motivation, writing project planning, reviewing professor feedback, and general revision strategies. Students can also schedule appointments to work on creative writing or writing projects not associated with a specific course.

Peer writing tutors are available for:

- Drop-in tutoring in the Writing Center (LIB 225) on Sunday-Thursday 4-9 pm. No appointment necessary!

- Individual appointments you can book at go/appt/ to meet one-on-one with tutors whenever it works with your schedule.

Professional writing tutors also have a limited number of appointment opportunities to work with students. Students should not book more than one appointment per week. Book an appointment at go/appt/.

Embedded peer writing course tutors are specifically assigned to First-Year Seminars and second-level College Writing (CW) courses. They work closely with course faculty to support students with assignment planning, drafting and revising, and developing effective writing processes. If your class has a course-embedded tutor, you can find them and schedule an appointment at go/appt/.

See go/write/ for more information.
